W.
Allen Ashby was born in Virginia, US, and grew up in North
Carolina. He received his BA from the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, spent a semester in Duke
University Seminary, earned his Ph.D. from Drew
University in New Jersey, and has engaged in post-doctoral work at Princeton
on two occasions.
His dissertation, entitled Stonehenge, was a phenomenological
study of the Imagination. The past 38 years he has taught English at Union
County College in Cranford, New Jersey. His occupation has afforded
him time to visit over 60 different countries, many of them on multiple
occasions.
He has a daughter, who has two sons of her own, who live in Greensboro, North
Carolina, where his mother and brother now live. His sister and her husband live
in Charleston, SC. His brother is the creator and curator of this web page.
