A good photograph does not need an explanation. This series of photos requires a bit of worded background. So, good photographs should not be an expectation here.
I don't tend to shoot photos when people are eating. Everyone and everything comes out badly. The few early photos here are just to get a sense of the pizza part of the event, activity and movement of RC at a pizza meal: RC Together in the Ashby Parlor.
I used a digital camera; set at a "portrait" speed, without flash. I didn't want to intrude (with a flash) and I was hoping to get a bit of "Halloween" atmosphere in the images with a bit of ghost-like movement. (Sadly, I may have gotten a little bit too much of mostly fuzzy pictures. Mary Foust didn't show up on screen.)
Being new to this generation of RC, I also did not take a lot of photos, having learned long ago that if I went into professional photographer mode, I'd be just that, a photographer, not a participant (even if only an RC Alumni judge of pumpkins) and I'd miss a lot of the fun.
Finally, I just remembered, a flash was used for three images. It was necessary to capture the final resting place of the "Suicide Pumpkin." "It was a dark and stormy night......" at RC.....
